SPIA Computing Services would like to make you aware of storage and collaboration features with Princeton Google Drive. All Princeton faculty, staff, and students are eligible for Princeton Google Drive accounts with unlimited storage. Of note:
- Undergraduate students have Google Drive and Shared Drive enabled automatically.
- Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Students may request Princeton Google Drive accounts here.
- Restricted and confidential data are not allowed. Learn more about the Information Technology Policy, the Google Acceptable Use Policy and Google Usage Guidelines.
Please be aware of two important issues:
- There is a limited period of data retention after someone’s account is de-provisioned. After 30 days, data is deleted and can no longer be retrieved.
- When collaborating, especially with short term participants, it is best to create a Shared Drive and not share files in the My Drive section of Google Drive. Files in a Shared Drive will be retained even if the author’s account has been de-provisioned.
